When Rocky Elmore joined the United States Border Patrol, he knew it would be a journey fraught with danger. But little did he know that the very real trails he walked night after night would soon lead him into surreal encounters from a different dimension. This was never more evident than when the ghost of a recently fallen fellow agent began to appear on top of the cliff from which he died. It marked the beginning of the end to one of the most bizarre series of events in the history of the U.S. Border Patrol.
This collection of true stories provides a rare look into law enforcement that includes not only the routine nightly patrols of the USBP but also actual paranormal activity as it happened to the agents in the field. Readers will go on nightly patrols with the agents of the Brown Field Border Patrol Station, and will face their worst fears as they come face to face with smugglers, mountain lions, ghosts, and even a Sasquatch in this isolated no-man’s land.
OUT ON FOOT takes place in the mysterious Otay Mountains just east of San Diego, California. It is an emotional roller coaster ride that is not for the faint of heart.
Out on Foot Nightly Patrols and Ghostly Tales of a US Border Patrol Agent eBook Rocky Elmore
I learned about this book by chance, and am glad I bought it! Rocky Elmore has done a great job of describing many aspects of the border patrol that citizens like myself are unaware of. Although I originally bought the book for its paranormal aspects in the context of law enforcement, I rarely read typical "ghost books", as so many begin to sound similar after awhile. Not so here. Some of the accounts presented here are chilling. Others are heartbreaking. The non-paranormal aspects are also fascinating. Throughout it all, one can begin to get a sense of the hazardous nature of BP. My only disappointment in the book was that when I finished I wished there was more. The book does contain occasional typos, but that did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. Every once in a while, a book comes along that is hard to put down from beginning to end. For myself, this is definitely in that category.

Out on Foot Nightly Patrols and Ghostly Tales of a US Border Patrol Agent eBook Rocky Elmore Reviews
Rocky really did not have many paranormal stories, though a couple of the encounters were very eerie. Good read with the kindle. A rather timely but short discussion of the rape that goes on really shows how the biased lame-stream media who attacked donald trump over his mentioning of the Huffington post story on illegal alien rape its much much worse than whats seldom reported. The Santiago ghost stories are extremely interesting. Rocky had made the talk radio circuit with Sasquatch chronicles, darkness radio and coast to coast am. Dave Schraeder on darkness radio had the best talk and the p"casts are readily available and well worth the time. Interestingly, while on coast to coast taking listener questions, two former border patrol agents called in with their experiences, so Rocky may find more experiences for future versions of his book. Overall a good read and would recommend it.
This is such an interesting book. I hope that Rocky writes more about his work as a border patrol agent. He wrote this book with an emphasis on ghostly tales, but the whole subject of patrolling the border fascinating. Just learning how border patrol works is amazing, the techniques employed and numbers of persons caught were beyond fascinating. I now have great respect for the men and woman who guard the southern borders. Many times first time author's books are poorly written with poor grammar. Rocky is a natural writer. Thank you Rocky and please write more!
I purchased this book after hearing the story of Louis Santiago on the Snap Judgement podcast. I was fascinated with the story and wanted to hear more. This book delivered. The stories, both paranormal and otherwise, are all fascinating and kept my attention the whole time. As many others have said, I only wish there had been more. I highly recommend this book.
One thing not related to the book itself but to the audiobook (which is what I purchased) I found the reader’s lack of pauses between sections and titles distracting. It’s nice to know when one topic is closing and another is beginning, especially when you’re listening to an audiobook and the visual separation on the page isn’t part of the experience. A few extra seconds in the breaks would have made the listening a more pleasant experience.
I really enjoyed this book. My only complaint is that it had to end. I grew up and as a young man explored much of this area covered here. Even in the 80s we were warned not to be out there after dark. The author shows why. I've known members of the Border Patrol and thier families while growing up. They have guts of solid rock to do what they do. To the author I say thank you for sharing. About the chapter that explains the rape trees, I have encountered things like that tromping around Otay ranch and Proctor Valley. I didn't know what it was all about then. It devistated me to find out all these years later about it. All said however, it's a must read for many different people. Weather you are into law enforcement, crypto zoology, wildlife in the SW US, it has alot to tell. Thanks again.
This book offers the reader an extraordinary journey into a world so far removed from normal that it almost respresents a different reality. I had very little knowledge of our border patrol officers and even less about those individuals whose mission it is to successfully cross the border into the US, some apparently two or three times the very same night! The dangers, the physical demands, the emotional stress and the drama of confronting the unknown in the black of night make the job of our border patrol agents one of the most challenging of any profession in the world.
To be honest I was completely hooked long before the author began to discuss some of the paranormal events he and other fellow border patrol agents had experienced over the years. Many of these paranormal experiences were unlike any I've ever read before and I've been reading and researching the paranormal for more than a half century. These stories are not just scary, some are downright terrifying. One of the things I think make them even more intense is the knowledge this writer is telling you true stories he either personally experienced or were related to him from other patrol agents he knew were of impeccable honesty and integrity. As frightening as these stories are, they're made even more so because you know they are not fabricated or embellished.
One of the most dramatic events related was of a fellow border patrol agent who lost his life while on duty one night, and then began to be seen on numerous occasions, apparently still doing his job as a border patrol guard. This included the specter of the dead agent actually confronting groups trying to make it across the border and assisting his still-living fellow agents in bringing these individuals into custody.
The fact that all these dangerous and other-worldly confrontations occur in the dead of night in an area of total isolation and desolation in pitch black darkness makes them even more blood-curdling and frightening. One of the most gripping and entertaining books on the paranormal I've ever read. As some others have commented, one of my only disappointments about this book was reaching the final page.
A definite must-read for those who are interested in reading true stories of ghosts and the paranormal. I heartily recommend it and I plan on reading it again cover to cover very soon.
